Random Quote: Titan A.E.

What really can I say about this movie. It's American anime (Japanese animation, der) but for once it's done well. I've seen some "grown up" cartoons from the states before, such as Spawn, but they all lacked something that the good anime had. I really don't know what it was. Then I saw advertisements for Titan A.E. (that stands for After Earth in case you didn't know) and thought that maybe we were finally getting past the point where animation was only for kids and should only contain anvils and giant sledgehammers.
So, I went and saw this movie, almost the day it came out. I have to say, I was blown away. Usually, when a movie gets hyped up as much as this one did, it tends to disappoint. Not this time, not by a long shot. I think one of the most interesting things about this movie was that I really had no idea the big name people that were going to be in it. Drew Barrymore, Matt Damon, and Bill Pullman to name a few. I recognized other "famous" people as the movie went along, like Janeane Garofalo. Other people were a complete surprise to me, so I won't go and name everybody that's in it so that maybe you can be surprised to. Titan A.E. takes place in the future, after aliens blew up earth. A bunch of humans escaped, but without a home planet, they were slowly dying out (is this the summer of human extinction or what?). One human stuck among a bunch of aliens is Matt Damon (I forget the character's name, sue me). Well, he just wants to go through life and be a bum, not really caring about his past or his species.
Well, along comes Bill Pullman (again, forget the character's names, sorry) who tells Matt Damon that he is the key to a bunch of stuff that could help out mankind. Well, of course Matt Damon tells Bill Pullman to screw, because humans suck anyway. Then, Bill Pullman hooks up with Tone Loke (I think that's how you spell it) and they begin to discuss the boy's future. While they are chatting away, the energy alien guys show up at the bar (cantina?) and start busting the place up, thus beginning Matt Damon's journey to his destiny. Once again, this movie is pretty predictable in the grand scheme of things, I mean, you always know the good guy is going to win, right? Well, this movie had a happy ending, but it was really full of surprises. I mean, it was visually stunning, had a great plot, and the acting was excellent. Right from the beginning, you are glued to the edge of your seat when the alien mother ship show up and blows up Earth. It was just incredible. Really, really incredible. and it just goes on and on like that.
There was one annoying thing about the movie though, that being the Baywatch like musical scenes. You know what I'm talking about here, you have to. When some crappy, teenybopper, lame PG music kicks in and you just sit through the song and watch stuff happen. Well, see the movie, you'll see what I mean. Really though, that wasn't a big deal. I knew to expect it, you have to. It was targeted to the generation that has Brightney Spears and their spokes person (I like my generation's spokes person better). I actually expected more crap music and some other teenybopper crap thrown in there for good measure, but I was happy to see I was wrong. Also, the music really wasn't always that bad, just was a little too campy for my style, but I guess if you like pop *gag* music than you'll like this music to.
Last but certainly not least, I want to say I love you to my favorite actress and comedian and person in the world, Janeane Garofalo. Even if I sometimes spell your name wrong, baby, it don't mean I love you any less. Even though you looked like a kangaroo that was in a bad car accident in this movie, I still love you. Call me, send me an E-mail, something. Hey, you can all just deal, okay. I happen to love my favorite person very much, so BACK OFF! Go watch Barb Wire you focking brain dead jackaloneaie. Rating: 10 Garofalo kisses... mmm hmm. Websites: Know a good site about this movie, or one of the actors/actresses/directors/key grips/etc involved in it.
